Overview

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents receive training across the entire spectrum of oral and maxillofacial surgery in a comprehensive and compassionate manner.

The OMFS residency is based at the VCU Medical Center and is administered by the Office of Graduate Medical Education and the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, part of the Department of Surgery.

To obtain the most comprehensive and diverse patient experiences, residents also rotate to the OMFS clinic in the VCU School of Dentistry. This provides opportunities for minor surgery, implants, cosmetic surgery, and outpatient general anesthesia and sedation.

From the Program Director

"Our program is designed to provide residents with more than sufficient didactic and clinical education in order to meet the requirements of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. All residents should be extremely well prepared for careers in clinical practice, both in academic and private practice settings."
