VCU General Surgery Residency Program
Thursday Morning Didactics
Weekly educational conference from 7:00 – 9:15 am, including case conference (M&M), Grand Rounds, and resident-led core didactic teaching using the SCORE curriculum.
- Case Conference: Held from 7:00 – 7:45 am on Thursdays, focusing on education and quality improvement.
- Grand Rounds: From 7:45 – 8:30 am on Thursdays, featuring surgery-relevant topics by local and national speakers.
- Resident-Led SCORE Didactics: From 8:30 – 9:15 am on Thursdays, with residents delivering content and faculty moderating.
- Class Meetings: Brief meetings every Thursday morning for feedback between residency administration and trainees.
Other Educational Sessions
- Mock Orals: Full-length mock oral exams twice a year for PGY 3, 4, 5 residents.
- Mock ABSITE: Full-length ABSITE test in the fall to prepare for the January exam.
- Divisional Conferences: Weekly educational conferences within each division focusing on quality assurance and educational topics.
