Research Resources
VCU Department of Surgery
Students may need specific training or access to facilities and records before initiating a new research project. Researchers at VCU have access to a wealth of resources, and we encourage students to explore them with the support of a faculty mentor.

Clinical Research Roadmaps
To support investigators and study teams, the VCU Health Office of Clinical Research, VCU Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research, and the VCU Human Research Protection Program have developed clear “roadmaps” outlining each step of the clinical research pathways.
These resources help teams understand the processes for both:
- Prospective Studies
- Retrospective Chart Reviews
You can access the roadmaps and directory on the VCU Health clinical research intranet under Study Team Resources → Roadmaps for Clinical Research
🔗 https://intranet.vcuhealth.org/sites/clinical-research/
As process improvements are made, updated versions will be shared with the research community.
