The VCU Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and its residency program have provided education to thousands of dental students pursuing specialty training in the diagnosis and treatment of mouth, face, head and neck conditions. These include:

  • Congenital and acquired jaw deformities (orthognathic surgery)
  • Facial trauma and oral injuries
  • Facial and oral tumors
  • Snoring and sleep apnea
  • Treatment of temporomandibular joint disorder
  • Placement of dental implants
  • Dental extractions, including wisdom teeth
  • Treatment of nerve injury
  • Cosmetic and laser oral and maxillofacial surgery

The division’s more than 60-year history is reflected in the experience and diversity of our faculty, our commitment to providing state-of-the-art patient care and our innovative educational programs, including a high caliber of scholarly publications.
