Trevor Reichman, MD, PhD, FACSPlease join us in extending a warm welcome to Trevor Reichman, MD, PhD, our new associate professor at VCU Department of Surgery, Division of Transplant Surgery.

Dr. Reichman comes to us from Ochsner Transplant Center in New Orleans, the largest comprehensive transplant program in Louisiana.

Dr. Reichman will be the new Director, Pediatric Liver Transplantation and Surgical Director of Adult Liver Transplantation at the VCU Hume-Lee Transplant Center. According to VCU News, “with the hiring of Dr. Reichman, Hume-Lee will relaunch it's pediatric and living donor liver transplantation programs.” Learn More

Announcing New Division Chair:

Marlon F. Levy, MDSEPTEMBER 1—Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Marlon F. Levy, MD as he begins his faculty appointment as new Chair of the Division of Transplant Surgery.

Dr. Levy comes to us from Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX and was the Medical Director of the Islet Cell Transplant Program for Baylor in Dallas. His research interests include allogeneic and autologous pancreatic islet cell transplants, inflammatory events in islet engraftment, and policy implications of organ allocation. In addition, Dr. Levy is an active participant in UNOS, both at the committee and Board levels.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Levy as a colleague and wish him a smooth transition as he settles into the VCU Health community.  > BIO

VCU School of Medicine, the Divisions of Transplant, Vascular Surgery with Hume-Lee Transplant Center will celebrate the 2nd Annual lectureship in honor of the memory of Dr. H. M. Lee.

The H. M Lee Lecture will be held during surgical ground rounds on March 26, 2015, 7:00am, at Sanger Hall, Room 1-044. VCU Maps—Sanger Hall

The 2015 Lee Lecturer is Robert J. Feezor, M.D., Assistant Director, Division of Vascular Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

H. M. “Hyung Mo” Lee Memorial Lectureship Established

H.M. Lee, MDVCU School of Medicine, and the Divisions of Transplant and Vascular Surgery join with Hume-Lee Transplant Center in establishing a lectureship in honor of the memory of Dr. H. M. Lee.

HM Lee Organ Transplant Pioneer Dies

Dr. Lee, who passed away in 2013 at the age of 86, was a pioneer in transplant surgery and was Professor and Chairman in the Divisions of Vascular and Transplant Surgery at VCU Medical Center from 1973-1994. His legacy lives on through the H. M. "Hyung Mo" Lee Memorial Lectureship, which was held for the first time this past March 20, 2014 in the Kontos Auditorium on the MCV Campus. 2014 Lee Lecture (pdf)

The first H. M. Lee Lecturer was Dr. John M. Ham, Professor and Chairman, Division of Transplantation, University of Nevada Las Vegas Medical Center.

Dr. Ham was Dr. Lee's last recruit to the Department of Surgery before his retirement, and spent eight years on the faculty. Dr. Ham's lecture was entitled:  Ethical Boundaries in the Innovation of Organ Donation.

In addition to Thursday morning's Grand Rounds lecture, a dinner was held the night before at the Historic John Marshall in honor of and gratitude for the many contributors to the newly established H. M. Lee Memorial Lecture Fund.

Through the generosity of Dr. Lee's many friends, colleagues, former students and residents, as well as the Lee Family, this Memorial Lecture will mark the legacy of Dr. H. M. Lee for the Divisions of Vascular and Transplant Surgery, as well as for future generations at VCU Medical Center through this annual event.
