MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR
Welcome to the Division of Pediatric Surgery
Faculty members of the Division of Pediatric Surgery encompass a wide variety of interests and talents in every aspect of surgical care for children—including:
- removal of extensive tumors/cancers,
- correction of a wide range of childhood birth defects (congenital anomalies),
- treatment of complicated traumatic injuries and major reconstructive procedures for babies, children and adolescents.
While most major operations are performed at MCV Hospital located at VCU Medical Center, other hospitals we serve in the greater Richmond area include St. Mary's, Chippenham, and Henrico Doctor's allowing continuous care in a community-based facility or clinic close to your home.
PEDIATRIC SURGERY RESEARCH & EDUCATION
Ongoing research efforts encompass new frontiers in treatment such as bariatric (weight loss) surgery for adolescents, airway reconstructive surgery and improved trauma techniques and protocols.
Education is key to the mission of the Division- and includes medical and para-medical students, residents in surgery, pediatrics and other fields, and involves collaboration in distant locales from Jamaica to Poland in order to promote a improved health care for children worldwide.
We look forward to the opening of the new ambulatory pavilion at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, scheduled to be completed in Summer 2015. The Children's Pavilion will be the largest, most advanced outpatient facility dedicated to children in the region. Learn more about the future of Children's Hospital of Richmond.
