Welcome

Our Division is comprised of a team of fellowship-trained surgeons focused on delivering exemplary and patient-centered care. We are supported by an outstanding multidisciplinary team of nurses, nurse-practitioners, dieticians, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, and radiologists, among others.

The Division has two main Sections: one that offers services to treat all benign and malignant Esophageal and Gastric (Foregut) diseases, Surgical Management of Obesity, Abdominal Wall Hernias and biliary diseases, and one that offers care for all Colon and Rectal Diseases.

For Foregut Diseases our team provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary and expert surgical and endoscopic care for the treatment of esophageal and gastric cancer, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Barrett’s Esophagus, Paraesophageal Hiatal Hernias, Gastroparesis, and Esophageal Achalasia among others. We work in close collaboration with our colleagues in Gastroenterology, Radiology, Endocrinology, and other specialties at VCU Health to provide the latest technology and a true multidisciplinary view of the problem at hand. This promotes for greater accuracy in diagnosis and better therapeutic decisions for all foregut diseases.
